Colombia calls up defender Ditta for soccer friendlies

BOGOTA, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Defender Willer Ditta has been recalled to Colombia's squad for friendlies against Mexico and Canada in the United States, the Colombian football federation said on Monday.

The 27-year-old replaces Cagliari center-back Yerry Mina, who withdrew with an unspecified injury.

Ditta, who plays his club football with Mexico's Cruz Azul, has been capped twice for Colombia since his international debut in 2023.

Colombia will face Mexico in Arlington, Texas, on October 11 and Canada in New Jersey three days later.

The Cafeteros secured its place at next year's FIFA World Cup last month by finishing third in the 10-team South American qualifying group.
